Spanish Artists & Day of the Dead

Kansas City is home to one of the best FREE art museums in the world--the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.  Here are a few of the upcoming events they have planned centered around Spanish art & artists, and Day of the Dead.

October 19, 2012--Curator Jan Schall gives a talk on Spanish painter Francisco Goya and American artist Enrique Chagoya. 7-8pm

November 4, 2012--Celebrate Day of the Dead through music, dance, art and demonstrations.  1-4pm.

November 4, 2012--El grupo folklorico Atotonilco performs for Day of the Dead.  2:15-3pm.  FREE, but tickets required.

November 9, 2012--Curator Jan Schall presents Who is Picasso?  7-8pm.

Also check out Visions of Mexican Art at Union Station.  This exhibit runs from September 15 through November 11, 2012 and includes artists such as Rivera, Tamayo, and Iturbide.  Open Tuesday-Friday 9:30am-4pm (open late Fridays until 9pm), Saturdays 9:30am-5pm, and Sundays Noon-5pm.  The cost is FREE with a suggested donation.
