¡Es viernes! Saben qué signífica eso…es “Insta-Friday” y también voy a escribir en español para “Spanish Friday.” Fue nuestra última semana de los días flojos de verano. No trabajo de jornada completa, pero enseño una clase privada de español los martes y jueves. Entonces nuestro horario ha cambiado y….¡no estoy lista! He disfrutado mucho nuestro verano y los días en casa con mis hijos. // It’s Friday! You know what that means…it is “Insta-Friday” and I am also writing in Spanish along with “Spanish Friday.” It was our last week of the lazy days of summer. I do not work full time, but I do teach a private Spanish class Tuesdays and Thursdays now. So our routine has changed and…I am not ready! I have enjoyed very much our summer and days at home with my little buddies.
El viernes pasado, estamos limpiando y organizando la casa mucho para preparar para el año escolar. Me da sorpresa ver mis hijos limpiando su dormitorio y cada noche han seguido en esa forma…cuando viene su padre del trabajo, ellos limpian su dormitorio como un “regalo.” ¡Mira papá, nuestro dormitorio está limpio! Me hace reír porque todo está tirado en la cama…mejor que el piso, ¿no? Me alegre ver que quieran ayudarme y su papi y creo que en el futuro van a ayudarnos mucho más. // Last Frday, we were cleaning and organizing the house to prepare for the school year. I was so surprised when I saw my boys cleaning their room and each night they have continued in this manner…when their dad comes home from work, they clean their room like a “present.” Look dad our room is clean! It makes me laugh because it is all thrown on the bed…better than the floor, right? It makes me happy to see that they want to help me and their dad and I think that in the future they will help us even more.
Últimamente mi hijo mayor está obsesionando de las espadas. Encontró esos pedazos de corteza y dice que son espadas. Él es muy serio acerca de ellas como pueden ver de la foto. Aquí está diciéndome: “¿Quieres ser picada?” jaja…Ay los niños. // Lately, my oldest son is obsessed with swords. He found these pieces of bark and says they are swords. He is very serious about them as you can see from the photo. Here he is saying to me “Do you wanna be chopped?” haha…oh, boys!
Aquí están unas cosas que me hacen feliz: papeles archivados, jueguetes organizados, y una agenda nueva para el año escolar. ¿Hay un dicho en español como “It’s the little things in life”? // Here are some things that make me happy: filed papers, organized toys, and a new planner for the school year. Is there a saying in Spanish like “It’s the little things in life?”
El domingo fuimos a la casa de los padres de mi esposo—mis suegros. Somos muy suertudos vivir cerca de ellos y de mis papas también. Me gusta que mis hijos pueden conocer a los dos muy bien…para mí, la familia es gran parte de nuestra herencia y cultura…nuestra identidad. Cada vez que vamos a la casa de mis suegros, tienen algún juguete nuevo para los niños. Ese día fue un autito de golf. Para los niños no hay algo mejor que los vehículos…¡las cosas que VAN! Lo codujeron hasta el anochecer. // Sunday we went to the house of my husband’s parents–my in-laws. We are very lucky to live close to them and my parents as well. I love that my boys are able to grow up knowing both sets of grandparents so closely…to me, family is a huge part of our inheritance and culture…our identity. Each time we go to my in-laws house, they always have some new toy for the boys. That day it was a golf cart. For boys there is nothing better than vehicles…things that GO! They drove it until sunset.
La palabra del día para lunes fue “esmalte de uñas.” Me pinté las uñas porque me cansaba del color que había pintada hace muchos meses (era el dorado, creo). // The word of the day for Monday was “nail polish.” I painted my nails because I was tired of the color that had been on there for months (it was gold, I think).
El último fin de semana he comprado demasiado pan, entonces esta semana tuve que pensar en recetas que usan el pan. Por eso, comimos mucho pan tostada francesa esta semana. Es la única comida del desayuno que come mi esposo. Pero no la come de la mañana, la come de noche como postre. // Last weekend I had bought way too much bread, so this week I had to think of recipes that used bread. For that reason, we ate a lot of french toast this week. It is the only breakfast food my husband eats. But he doesn’t eat it in the morning, he eats it at night like dessert. 🙂
No hay nada más preciosa que mis hijos adormecidos. Cada día por la tarde yo voy a mi cuarto para trabajar en la computadora, y mis hijos duermen. Jefe se duerme en mi cuarto con la música clásica. Creo que él piensa constantamente, y la música le calma los pensamientos para dormir. // There is nothing more precious than my boys in dream land. Every day in the afternoon I go to my room to work on the computer, and my boys sleep. Jefe falls asleep in my room to classical music. I think that he is contstantly thinking, and the music helps calm his thoughts to sleep.
El martes fue un “rough day.” Primer día de clases y más que no recuerdo…entonces el miércoles mi esposo me sorprendió con esa sorpresa de cariño: café y rosquillas. Comí cuatro. jajaja…me da pena que la comida me anima así. // Tuesday was a “rough day.” The first day of classes and more that I cannot remember…so Wednesday my hubby surprised me with this sweet treat: coffee and donuts. I ate four. hahaha…I am embarrassed to admit that food makes me feel better like that.
Bueno…ha sido una semana un poco aletargada para mí…pero por eso me encanta los “Insta-Friday” porque puedo mirar de atrás y ver que cada semana hay cosas muy bonitas y dulces en la vida. Sólo tenemos que buscarlas. // Well…it has been a little bit of a lethargic week for me…but that is why I love “Insta-Friday” because I am able to look back and see that each week there are sweet and beautiful things in life. All we have to do is look for them.
